With a speciality in romanticism and a love for the intersection of fantasy and reality, Tampa-born and LA based Sarah Wilson Thacker’s work has garnered numerous awards, including a Student Emmy Award and the ASC Student Heritage Award. She recently penned a feature film for Matt Kaplan’s ACE Entertainment, is a Ryan Murphy Half Initiative alum (where she shadowed on 9-1-1 on ABC), and is a current participant in the Hallmark Make Her Mark directing program. Her narrative directing work includes a half-hour drama pilot through the PlayStation Emerging Filmmakers Program (The Many Lives of Ayn Winters) as well as several narrative shorts commissioned by Google. Her music video work has garnered millions of views and has been featured on Billboard, People, and Playbill, while her branded content work includes pieces & campaigns for Nike, Converse, Caesars Palace, and the Tony award-winning Broadway musical An American in Paris.
She earned her BA in Broadcast Journalism from The University of South Florida and an MFA in Film Directing from Chapman University, where she was closely mentored by filmmakers Martha Coolidge, Andy Lane, Michael Phillips, and Leslie Dixon. Sarah has shadowed filmmakers Brenna Malloy, Ryan Case and Melanie Mayron, and she has assisted writer/director Nancy Meyers.
When not writing and directing, Sarah volunteers with LA based non-profit WRITE GIRL (https://www.writegirl.org/about), dabbles in cocktail making, and aggressively snuggles her golden retriever (@tobythegoldie).
She is represented by VERVE and Good Fear.
